Frequently asked questions

Is it true that Bending Spoons is a very demanding workplace?

If you join our team, you’ll quickly realize that the hiring process is only the start of the challenges you’ll face on your Bending Spoons journey. We strive to set an exceptional standard of excellence here, for ourselves and our teammates, in all that we do. This can be a difficult adjustment, especially in your first year. But you’ll discover that constantly challenging yourself is the key to experiencing tremendous growth. And you’ll have our utmost support as you push yourself to reach your full potential.

Can I apply for more than one job at the same time?

You can submit only one application every six months. However, the application form allows you to express interest in up to two additional roles alongside the main one you're applying for. Also, during our review process, we consider your potential in the context of all our open jobs. So, if we believe you may be a better match for another role, we'll automatically consider you for it as well.

I applied and, after completing some tests and interviews, I wasn’t selected. Can I reapply?

If this is the case, we ask that you wait at least one year before you apply again for a similar job. This gives you time to develop new skills and gain more experience so that you can blow us away next time around.

I’m interested in working at Bending Spoons, but I don’t have any experience. What do you recommend?

We recommend you don’t self-reject—apply anyway! Many outstanding Spooners join us without any experience.

I’d love to work at Bending Spoons, but I don’t see an open job that fits my skill set. Do you accept general applications?

Unfortunately, we only accept applications for open jobs. Please keep an eye on our website for a full list of openings.

I received an email telling me that Bending Spoons won’t be continuing with my application. Can I have some feedback?

While we recognize how frustrating this is for you, we currently offer feedback only to applicants who reach the latter stages of our recruiting process.

I’ve been invited to an interview. How can I prepare?

Interviews vary across roles, but if your recruiter hasn’t provided you with specific information on how or what to prepare, then no preparation is needed on your side. The first interviews tend to be behavioral—we want to learn how you behave in a range of situations. Otherwise, they’re aimed at assessing your general problem-solving skills. Either way, you don’t need to do anything to prepare unless specifically told otherwise.

What are the application deadlines?

It’s rare for us to set an application deadline—and when we do, it’s stated clearly on the job description. If the job is listed on our Jobs page then we’re continuing to accept applications for it, and we encourage you to submit yours promptly.

I’ve got an interview coming up, and am in need of assistance or an accommodation. What should I do?

People with disabilities, neurodivergencies, or mental health or other long-term health conditions are entitled to accommodations. If this applies to you and you’d like to request accommodations at any stage of the recruiting process, please let us know ahead of that stage. You don’t need to tell us the specifics of your situation—just which accommodations you seek so we can put these in place for you.

Requesting accommodations has no bearing on the outcome of your application. Similarly, any information you provide on this topic is used solely in the context of providing accommodations during the recruiting process—it isn’t used when making decisions as to the outcome of your application, or for any other purpose. This is in accordance with our Applicant Privacy Policy.

You can request accommodations by contacting us at accommodations-ext@bendingspoons.com in confidence. If you think you might need accommodations but aren’t certain, you can contact us in confidence at the same email address. The person you speak to won’t be the same one who makes decisions about your application.

How does the recruiting process work?

It can vary according to the role. Still, our recruiting process generally starts with a resume screening, then successful applicants are invited to take a few tests, before moving on to the interviews phase. The process can take anything from a few weeks to a few months to complete, and the whole thing is done online.

I’d love to relocate to Italy, but would need a visa or a residency permit. Do you sponsor these and support relocation?

Absolutely! We’re happy to help you and your close family members secure the relevant permits, including a visa if one is necessary. Your dedicated residency permit buddy will help you navigate the process.

Beyond helping you to secure any necessary permits, we also offer you a considerable financial and logistical support package. The package includes coverage of all reasonable transportation and temporary accommodation expenses for you, your close family members, and your pets, as well as support with a range of bureaucratic matters. Your dedicated relocation buddy is always on hand to provide guidance.

What’s your policy when it comes to working part-time?

It’s generally not a problem if for a few months you need more time off than usual. For example, lots of Spooners work part-time with us while they’re studying. We ask our interns to commit to at least 20 hours per week—but they have a lot of freedom as to which hours and days of the week they choose to work.

How long does the internship last?

All our internships, including part-time internships, require a minimum commitment of ‌12 months, to ensure the experience is as meaningful as possible.

Are your internships paid or unpaid?

All Spooners, including our interns, get paid competitively.
