We’re no longer accepting applications for this job, but you’re welcome to apply for a different one.
Since launching in 2013, Bending Spoons has served around half a billion people across the globe through our suite of cutting-edge products. Still, we’ve only just crossed the starting line on our mission to make an enduring positive impact on our customers, on our fellow Spooners, and on society at large.
Our business is growing rapidly on an international scale, with products and services that are increasing in complexity and legal challenges that are expanding in tandem. So we’re looking for someone meticulous and driven to ensure we always meet—if not exceed—legal compliance standards. The role promises a challenging and diverse scope of legal work, with a significant impact on our privacy audit initiatives.
A few examples of your responsibilities
- Oversee privacy and data protection initiatives, collaborating with the group DPO to ensure strict compliance with regulations, especially GDPR.
- Provide prompt assistance with all in-house privacy inquiries, supporting daily tasks, special projects, and urgent issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to tackle privacy challenges.
- Foster and maintain productive relationships with external consultants and advisors, serving as a mediator between business lines and these partners.
- Draft and review data processing agreements, privacy policies, legitimate interest assessments, and data protection impact assessments.
- Stay updated with evolving privacy legislation and corporate best practices to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of compliance.
- Work with internal teams to develop tools and products that are privacy compliant by default, collaborating with security and privacy engineers to translate regulations into technical implementations and best practices.
- Conduct comprehensive internal audits aimed at refining internal processes and supporting teams, as well as external audits targeting suppliers and subsidiaries to ensure consistent compliance.
What we look for
- Passion. You have a genuine love for the field. You investigate the subject extensively and are always up to date with the latest developments.
- Drive. Your dedication matches the intensity of your ambition. You’re willing to put in the hard work necessary to achieve your goals, and the highly demanding challenges in your track record are proof of your relentless spirit.
- Accuracy and precision. Your attention to detail is spot-on, and you’re painstakingly accurate. The quality of your output, whether in academia or at work, is consistently pristine.
- Common sense. Your judgment and intuition are sound and well grounded in reality.
- Some experience. After obtaining a law degree, you practiced at a law firm or in some industry environments for a period of time, in which you faced privacy-law related challenges, or you completed a specialization course on privacy-related topics.
- Reasoning and depth of learning. You learn new concepts and skills rapidly, delving into new topics with a structured approach and a curious mindset. This is demonstrated by how quickly you mastered new tools when you first encountered them, and by how you used creative problem-solving to face cross-disciplinary problems.
- Organization and structure. You’re meticulously organized and superbly structured, so you can handle multiple tasks and responsibilities with poise and precision.
- Communication skills. You can pose questions with clarity and explain your reasoning concisely.
- Humility. You’re down to earth, eager to listen to feedback and constructive criticism, and ready to support your team with whatever it needs to succeed.
- Fluent English and Italian. You can read and write fluently both in English and in Italian.
What we offer
- Real impact. We automate most menial tasks, freeing you up to focus your expertise where it can make the biggest impact.
- Flexibility and trust. From day one, you’ll be one of the team and fully trusted. No micromanagement or clipping your wings—just the freedom and responsibility to do great work.
- Talented, knowledgeable colleagues. Learn from (and teach) some of the brightest and most skilled people you’ll ever meet. Your talent is going to blossom here.
- Flexible schedule. Our regular hours are 9-6 GMT+1, with remote work allowed within GMT-2 to GMT+3 time zones.
- Continuous education. Spooners get unlimited backing for learning investments, including Italian or English lessons and things like courses, conferences, and books. There’s no permission or approval process—you’re fully trusted to use the company’s resources efficiently.
- Unique career opportunity. By joining a fast-growing company on a mission to become one of the world's greatest, it’s an unparalleled opportunity to turbocharge your learning and career prospects.
- People who lift up one another. We hire for talent and leave the ego at the door. You'll find a group of truly talented Spooners who are eager to teach their secrets and to learn. Reciprocal support and respect is everything—you’re unlikely to ever encounter a more harmonious crew.
- Wonderful HQ. Natural light, silent rooms, state-of-the-art hardware, fun-filled common spaces... the list never ends! You’ll certainly be in the right environment to do your best work. And, when it’s time to switch off, you can do that in style and comfort.
- Relocation package. If you need to relocate for the position, we typically cover reasonable transportation and moving expenses, provide up to three months of temporary accommodation, and help you and your close family members with visa support if necessary.
- Competitive pay and access to equity in the company. Typically, we offer an individual at the start of their career a salary of £54,545 in the UK and €52,246 elsewhere. Pay grows rapidly as you accumulate experience and translate it into greater impact. You can also receive some of your pay in company equity at a discounted price, thus participating in the value creation we achieve together. If relocating to Italy, you may enjoy a 50% tax cut.
